Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsC30 (2007–2013), C30 Electric (2011–2013), C70 (2006–2013), S40 (2004–2013), V50 (2004–2013)
What does this fault code mean?
The integrated audio module (IAM) has detected that the signal from the microphone is too low. This may be because the signal wire has contact with ground, or because the signal wires to the microphone are short-circuited to each other. The microphone then does not work.
Possible causes
- Short circuit to ground on the signal wire between the module and the microphone
- Short circuit between the signal wires to the microphone
What you can do
- 1With the ignition off, check the connectors at the microphone and at the module for contact resistance, play and oxidation
- 2Follow the wires between the module and the microphone and look for chafing where they may have touched the car body or each other
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire has no contact with ground (the car body) and that the signal wires are not short-circuited to each other
- 4After the work, check that the microphone works and that the fault code does not come back
Symptoms you may notice1
- The microphone does not work
