VOLVO
IAM-B1A5611 - Antenna. General Electrical Failures. Circuit short to ground
System
Integrated Audio Module (IAM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
9 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The IAM unit checks the antenna cable between the module and the antenna amplifier and has registered that the voltage is too low. The cable is short-circuited to ground, so radio reception becomes poor or is lost.
Possible causes
- The antenna cable is short-circuited to ground
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses for the radio and the antenna amplifier are intact
- 2Try AM and FM and see whether reception improves on both bands
- 3With the ignition off, check the connections on the antenna cable at the module and at the antenna amplifier for contact resistance, play and oxidation
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the antenna cable has no contact with ground (the car body)
- 5After the work, check that the radio receives well and that the fault code does not come back
Symptoms you may notice4
- Poor AM radio reception
- Poor FM radio reception
- The radio does not work
- RDS in the radio does not work
