This fault code has different meanings depending on model, model year or engine. Select the meaning that applies to your car.
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsC30 (2007–2013), C30 Electric (2011–2013), C70 (2006–2013), S40 (2004–2013), V50 (2004–2013)
What does this fault code mean?
At start-up ICM compares the serial number of the audio module (AUD) against a list of approved units held in the CEM. A unit missing from that list is locked out, so sound from the car's system is lost. The code is set when this mismatch occurs, often after a swap where the new unit received no software.
Possible causes
- Fitting an audio module the CEM list does not approve
- No software loaded when the audio module was changed
- The software load failed or did not finish
What you can do
- 1Clear the code and run the car for a while to see if it comes back
- 2If the audio module has been changed, find out whether a software load was carried out at that time. The load is done by a workshop
- 3Check that the audio module connectors are seated firmly and not corroded
- 4If the code persists after the software is loaded, replacing the audio module may be needed. A workshop should carry that out
Symptoms you may notice2
- No sound from the loudspeakers
- The headphones are not functioning
