This fault code has different meanings depending on model, model year or engine. Select the meaning that applies to your car.
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsC30 (2007–2013), C30 Electric (2011–2013), C70 (2006–2013), S40 (2004–2013), V50 (2004–2013)
What does this fault code mean?
On start-up the infotainment module (ICM) reads the multimedia module (MMM) serial number and matches it to the CEM's approved register. A unit that is absent from the register is blocked. The code is recorded when this mismatch is seen, commonly after a swap in which the new MMM was left without software.
Possible causes
- Swapping in a multimedia module that the CEM register does not approve
- No software loaded when the MMM was changed
- The software load failed or was left unfinished
What you can do
- 1Clear the code and run the car for a while to check whether it reappears
- 2If the MMM has been changed, verify that a software load followed the change. It is carried out by a workshop
- 3Make sure the MMM connectors are seated properly and show no corrosion
- 4If the code persists after the software load, the MMM may need to be replaced. A workshop should do that
Symptoms you may notice1
- The multimedia system does not function
