What does this fault code mean?
At start-up ICM compares the subwoofer module (SUB) with the register of approved units in the CEM. If SUB is absent from that register, the module is locked and the subwoofer goes silent. The code is set once that gap is recorded, usually after a subwoofer module was fitted with no software load.
Possible causes
- Replacing the subwoofer module with a unit the CEM register does not approve
- No software loaded when the subwoofer module was replaced
- The software load failed or was incomplete
What you can do
- 1Clear the code and test-drive the car to see whether it reappears
- 2If the subwoofer module was recently replaced, check that software was loaded. A workshop performs this
- 3Check that the subwoofer connectors are fully seated and free from corrosion
- 4If the code persists after the software load, the subwoofer module may need replacing. A workshop should assess it
Symptoms you may notice1
- No sound from the subwoofer
