Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
6 modelsC30 (2007–2013), C30 Electric (2011–2013), C70 (2006–2013), S40 (2004–2013), V50 (2004–2013), XC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
At start-up ICM compares the serial number of the integrated audio module (IAM) with the CEM register of approved units. An IAM absent from that register is blocked, leaving the car's audio system inoperative. The code is set on detection, and it most often appears after a new IAM was fitted without its software being loaded.
Possible causes
- An integrated audio module that the CEM register does not accept
- Software not loaded when the integrated audio module was replaced
- The software download failed or was incomplete
What you can do
- 1Clear the fault code and drive the car for a while to see whether it returns
- 2If the integrated audio module was recently replaced, check that its software was downloaded. This is a workshop task
- 3Check that the connectors to the audio module are fully seated and not corroded
- 4If the fault remains after the software download, the integrated audio module may need replacing. Have a workshop assess this
Symptoms you may notice1
- The audio system does not work
