Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
6 modelsC30 (2007–2013), C30 Electric (2011–2013), C70 (2006–2013), S40 (2004–2013), V50 (2004–2013), XC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
ICM searches the CEM's register of approved units for the remote digital audio receiver (RDAR). If RDAR is not listed there, the receiver is blocked and digital radio stops working. The code is set when the gap is found, usually after a change in which the new receiver was not given its software.
Possible causes
- Replacing the digital radio receiver with a unit the CEM register does not approve
- Software not downloaded when the digital radio receiver was replaced
- The software download failed or was incomplete
What you can do
- 1Read the fault code, clear it and test-drive the car to see whether it returns
- 2If the digital radio receiver has been replaced, check that software was downloaded. This is done by a workshop
- 3Check that the connectors to the digital radio receiver are fully seated and free from oxidation
- 4If the fault remains after the software download, the receiver may need replacing. A workshop should do this
Symptoms you may notice1
