Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
6 modelsC30 (2007–2013), C30 Electric (2011–2013), C70 (2006–2013), S40 (2004–2013), V50 (2004–2013), XC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
The control module compares the Bluetooth phone module (BPM) against the CEM's register of approved units. The code is set when BPM is found to be missing from that register, and the Bluetooth phone then stops working. It is most common after a new BPM is fitted without a software download.
Possible causes
- A Bluetooth phone module that the CEM register does not approve
- Software not downloaded when the BPM was replaced
- The software download failed or was incomplete
What you can do
- 1Clear the fault code and drive the car for a while to see whether it returns
- 2If the BPM was recently replaced, check that software was downloaded with the change. This is done by a workshop
- 3Check that the connectors to the Bluetooth phone module are fully seated and not corroded
- 4If the fault remains after the software download, the BPM may need replacing. Have a workshop do this
