What does this fault code mean?
ICM tests whether the back button has jammed. The code is set when the button has been held active for longer than allowed, so it concerns the back button even though the code is labelled button 1.
Possible causes
- The back button has jammed in the pressed position
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact. Their locations are given in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover
- 2Press the back button a few times and see whether it returns. Is it staying down or sticking?
- 3Check that the button springs back freely without resistance, and clean away any visible dirt around it
- 4With a diagnostic tool, read the back button value in live data and check it switches as the button is pressed and released
- 5If the button stays jammed and cannot be freed, a workshop can replace the keypad
Symptoms you may notice4
- Buttons on the keypad do not work
- Steering wheel audio controls do not work
- The audio unit does not work
- On S80, V70 and XC70 built before the end of August 2008: the display on the audio unit or the radio does not work
