What does this fault code mean?
ICM tests whether the forward button has jammed. The code is set when the button has been held active longer than allowed, even though the code is labelled button 5.
Possible causes
- The forward button has jammed in the pressed position
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact. Their locations are given in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover
- 2Press the forward button and see whether it springs back
- 3Check that nothing is holding the button down and that it moves freely
- 4With a diagnostic tool, read the forward button value in live data while pressing and releasing it. If the button is stuck and cannot be freed, a workshop can replace the keypad
Symptoms you may notice4
- Buttons on the keypad do not work
- Steering wheel audio controls do not work
- The audio unit does not work
- On S80, V70 and XC70 built before the end of August 2008: the display on the audio unit or the radio does not work
