Applies to the following models:
5 modelsC30 (2007–2013), C30 Electric (2011–2013), C70 (2006–2013), S40 (2004–2013), V50 (2004–2013)
What does this fault code mean?
ICM checks its configuration ID against the signal configuration that the CEM transmits on the CAN network. The code is set when the IDs do not match, and also when communication between ICM and CEM is interrupted. A possible cause is a used module fitted without software being loaded.
Possible causes
- Faulty CAN configuration ID, for example a used module not intended for this particular car
- Break in the CAN lines running between ICM and the CEM
What you can do
- 1Find out whether the infotainment control module has been swapped for a used unit. A module from another car or with different software can set this code
- 2With a diagnostic tool, read the fault codes in the central electronic module (CEM). If the code is stored only in the infotainment module, the configuration in that module is wrong
- 3Check the CAN wiring between the infotainment module and the central electronic module for breaks and chafing
- 4Have a workshop program the infotainment control module with the latest software using the software manager. This is a workshop task
Symptoms you may notice3
- Steering wheel radio controls do not respond
- Steering wheel navigation controls do not respond
- The display does not light
