Applies to the following models:
6 modelsC30 (2007–2013), C30 Electric (2011–2013), C70 (2006–2013), S40 (2004–2013), V50 (2004–2013), XC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
The infotainment control module (ICM) checks its own power supply. The code is set when the supply is too low, for example because of a break or a short to earth in the wiring, or poor contact at the connections. Audio, display and phone can then stop working, since the module is not getting enough voltage.
Possible causes
- A break, or a short to earth, in the supply wire feeding the infotainment module
- Contact resistance, oxidation or loose connection in the power supply
- The infotainment relay is defective
- Damaged supply wire
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuse for the infotainment control module is intact. Its location is given in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover
- 2Look at the connection at the infotainment control module for oxidation, damage and a connector that is not fully seated
- 3Use a multimeter to confirm the supply wire is continuous and not shorted to earth
- 4If the fault remains, a workshop can check the infotainment relay in the central electronic module (CEM) and the wiring
Symptoms you may notice4
- The audio unit does not work
- The display does not light
- Infotainment functions do not work
- Phone function absent or reduced
