This fault code has different meanings depending on model, model year or engine. Select the meaning that applies to your car.
Applies to the following models:
7 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The infotainment control module (ICM) is continuously supplied with information from the transmission control module (TCM) over the CAN link, and checks that the link works. The code is set when communication with the TCM stops. The causes are a break, a short to earth or supply in the communication cable, or poor contact at the connections.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the communication cable
- Communication cable shorted to earth
- Communication cable shorted to supply voltage
- Contact resistance, oxidation or open circuit at the connections
What you can do
- 1With a diagnostic tool, read the fault codes in the other modules. If lost-communication codes exist in several modules, work through them first, starting with the central electronic module (CEM)
- 2Clear the fault code and drive the car for a while to see whether it returns
- 3Check the communication cable connectors for oxidation, loose connections and chafing
- 4If the fault remains, a workshop should check the transmission control module (TCM) and the wiring. New software can be loaded by a workshop if needed
