What does this fault code mean?
The infotainment control module (ICM) checks its communication with the forward sensing module (FSM) over the CAN network. The code is set when that communication is disturbed or missing. It points to a fault somewhere in the CAN communication rather than to one specific module.
Possible causes
- The forward sensing module (FSM) receives no power
- Break in the earth wire to the forward sensing module
- Contact resistance in the connections
- Break or short in the CAN wiring
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact. Their locations are given in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover
- 2Check the earth wire to the forward sensing module. Its connections should be tight and free from oxidation
- 3Check the connectors at the forward sensing module and along the CAN wiring for oxidation, loose connections and chafing
- 4With a diagnostic tool, read the fault codes in the central electronic module (CEM). If several communication codes are stored, a shared CAN fault is likely and should be found first
