Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
9 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The infotainment control module (ICM) receives the information it needs from the central electronic module (CEM) over CAN. The code is set when communication with the CEM stops, and collision-avoidance and braking support as well as the alarm may then be affected. Fault-finding starts in the CEM.
Possible causes
- A fault in the central electronic module (CEM)
What you can do
- 1With a diagnostic tool, read the fault codes in the central electronic module (CEM). Fault-finding starts there
- 2Check that the fuses are intact. Their locations are given in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover
- 3Check the CAN connectors between the infotainment module and the central electronic module for oxidation, loose connections and chafing
- 4Do not work on the braking system or the collision support yourself. If the fault remains, a workshop should trace the CEM and load software where needed
Symptoms you may notice2
- Collision avoidance and braking support do not work
- The alarm does not work or has other problems
