Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
9 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The serial number of each infotainment module is kept in the CEM and compared at start-up. If the infotainment control module (ICM) is not on the approved list, the Infotainment Theft Protection (ITP) function blocks it and the infotainment functions are lost. The code is set when ICM registers this, typically after a replacement where the software was not downloaded.
Possible causes
- An infotainment control module that the CEM list does not approve
- Software not loaded when the infotainment control module was changed
- The software download failed or was incomplete
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact. Their locations are given in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover
- 2If the infotainment control module was recently changed, check that software was loaded with the change. The download is done by a workshop
- 3With a diagnostic tool, read the fault code, clear it and see whether it returns
- 4If the fault remains after the software download, the infotainment control module may need replacing. A workshop should assess this and check that the unit is accepted by the system
Symptoms you may notice3
- Infotainment functions do not work
- The audio unit (complete) does not work
- On S80, V70 and XC70 built before the end of August 2008: the display on the audio unit or the radio does not work
