What does this fault code mean?
The infotainment control module (ICM) receives the information it needs from the parking assistance module (PAM) over CAN and monitors that link. The code is set when communication with the PAM stops. The causes can be a break, a short to earth or supply in the communication wire, or poor contact at the connections.
Possible causes
- Break in the communication wire to the parking assistance module
- Communication wire shorted to earth
- Communication wire shorted to supply voltage
- Poor contact, oxidation or an open connection in the connections
What you can do
- 1Read the fault codes in the other modules. If several modules show lost-communication codes, work through them first, starting with the central electronic module (CEM)
- 2Check the connectors in the communication wire to the parking assistance module for oxidation, loose connections and chafing
- 3Clear the fault code and test-drive the car to see whether it returns
- 4If the fault remains, a workshop may need to check the parking assistance module and its wiring
