Applies to the following models:
1 modelV60 (2011–)
Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
The IEM control unit keeps watch over the voltage and current feeding the electric rear axle (ERAD). The code indicates an open circuit in the connection to the electric machine. The car then cannot be driven electrically by the rear axle.
Possible causes
- The high-voltage wiring to the voltage converter (ISC) is unplugged or loosely connected
- Loose contacts, contact resistance or oxidation where the electric rear axle (ERAD) joins the voltage converter (ISC)
- Open circuit in the high voltage cable
- High voltage cable short-circuited to ground
- Damaged wiring between the electric rear axle (ERAD) and the voltage conversion unit (ISC)
- Defect inside the voltage converter (ISC)
What you can do
- 1Have a workshop check that the high voltage cable is connected and seated in the voltage conversion unit (ISC)
- 2Have a workshop look for open circuits, earth faults and damaged wiring between the electric rear axle and the voltage conversion unit. High voltage systems may only be handled by qualified personnel
- 3Do not work on the high voltage cabling or the connectors to the electric rear axle yourself
- 4After the repair, check that the code is not stored again and that electric propulsion works as normal
Symptoms you may notice4
- Warning symbol and text message in the display
- Drive mode PURE disengages automatically or is not available
- Drive mode AWD disengages automatically or is not available
- Drive mode HYBRID: the combustion engine runs all the time or too often
What the fault can affect2
- Electric propulsion is not possible
- Brake energy regeneration from the electric rear axle is not possible
