What does this fault code mean?
The electric rear axle drive module (IEM) in the plug-in hybrid has detected an open circuit in the high-voltage connection between the high-voltage battery and the voltage converter. Without a closed high-voltage circuit the rear axle electric motor cannot drive the car.
Possible causes
- Damaged main fuse for the high-voltage battery
- Poor contact or corrosion in the high-voltage connections
- Open circuit or short to ground in the high-voltage wiring
- Internal fault in the voltage converter, the high-voltage battery or the electric A/C compressor
What you can do
- 1Note which drive modes do not work and whether other warnings are shown
- 2Never work on the high-voltage system yourself – the orange cables and components must only be handled by qualified personnel
- 3Have a workshop qualified for high-voltage work check the fuse, wiring and connections
- 4The car can normally be driven to the workshop on the combustion engine
Symptoms you may notice3
- Message in the display
- Pure electric and all-wheel drive (AWD) modes become unavailable
- The combustion engine runs all the time or often
What the fault can affect2
- The car cannot be driven electrically
- Braking energy cannot be recovered through the rear axle electric motor
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
