IEM-B200413 - Low Voltage Connector. General Electrical Failures. Circuit open

Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
1 modelV60 (2011–)
Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
Although the code is named low voltage connector, it applies to the signals from the temperature sensor and the position sensor in the electric rear axle (ERAD). The IEM control unit sets the code when the temperature signal is missing or too low, or when the position sensor signal is wrong. Electric propulsion is then not possible.
Possible causes
- Loose contacts, contact resistance or oxidation at the joints between the ERAD and the voltage converter (ISC)
- Open circuit in the signal cable
- Signal cable short-circuited to ground
- Damaged wiring between the ERAD and the ISC
- Internal fault in the electric rear axle (ERAD)
- Internal fault in the voltage converter (ISC)
What you can do
- 1Have a workshop check the connectors and signal wires between the electric rear axle and the voltage converter (ISC). High voltage systems may only be handled by qualified personnel
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool: look at the temperature readings from the electric rear axle in live data and see whether any of them is missing or stays constantly low
- 3Do not carry out any work or measurements on the wiring to the electric rear axle yourself
- 4Have a workshop read out the fault codes after the repair and check that the code is not stored again
Symptoms you may notice4
- Warning window with a warning symbol and text message in the display
- Drive mode PURE disengages automatically or is unavailable
- Drive mode AWD disengages automatically or is unavailable
- Drive mode HYBRID: the combustion engine is active all the time or too often
What the fault can affect2
- Electric propulsion is not possible
- Brake energy regeneration from the electric rear axle is not possible
