Applies to the following models:
1 modelV60 (2011–)
Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
The code means that the signal from one of the temperature sensors in the electric rear axle (ERAD) is too high. This may be caused by the signal cable being short-circuited to supply voltage or by a break in the cable. The control module (IEM) sets the code when the reading from the sensor falls outside the normal range. The performance of the rear axle is then reduced.
Possible causes
- Loose contacts, contact resistance or oxidation at the joints between the ERAD and the voltage converter (ISC)
- Signal cable short-circuited to supply voltage
- Open circuit in the signal cable
- Damaged wiring between the ERAD and the ISC
- Damaged temperature sensor in the ERAD
- Internal fault in the voltage converter (ISC)
What you can do
- 1If you have a diagnostic tool: read the temperature values from the electric rear axle in live data and see whether one sensor reads abnormally high compared with the other
- 2Have a workshop check the temperature sensor's signal cable for a short to supply voltage and for a break. High voltage systems may only be handled by qualified personnel
- 3Do not carry out any measurements or work on the high voltage wiring yourself
- 4After the repair, read out the fault codes and check that the code is not stored again
Symptoms you may notice4
- Warning symbol and text message in the display
- Drive mode PURE disengages automatically or is unavailable
- Drive mode AWD disengages automatically or is unavailable
- Drive mode HYBRID: the combustion engine runs all the time or too often
What the fault can affect1
- Reduced performance of the electric rear axle
