IEM-B20062F - Electric Machine Temperature Sensor. General Signal Failures. Signal erratic
System
Unknown System / Manufacturer Specific
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
1 modelV60 (2011–)
Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
The signal from the temperature sensors in the electric rear axle (ERAD) changes too quickly to be trusted. The IEM control unit measures with two sensors and sets the code when the signal is not stable. Electric propulsion is then not possible.
Possible causes
- Loose contacts, contact resistance or oxidation between the ERAD and the voltage converter (ISC)
- Signal cable short-circuited to supply voltage
- Open circuit in the signal cable
- Damaged wiring between the ERAD and the ISC
- Damaged temperature sensor in the ERAD
- Internal fault in the voltage converter (ISC)
What you can do
- 1If you have a diagnostic tool: follow the temperature value from the electric rear axle in live data for a while and see whether it jumps irregularly
- 2Have a workshop check the connectors and signal wires between the electric rear axle and the voltage converter (ISC). High voltage systems may only be handled by qualified personnel
- 3Do not work on the wiring to the electric rear axle yourself
- 4After the repair, read out the fault codes and check that the code is not stored again
Symptoms you may notice4
- Warning window with a warning symbol and text message
- Drive mode PURE disengages automatically or is unavailable
- Drive mode AWD disengages automatically or is unavailable
- Drive mode HYBRID: the combustion engine is active all the time or too often
What the fault can affect2
- Electric propulsion is not possible
- Brake energy regeneration from the electric rear axle is not possible
