IEM-B200729 - Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor Temperature Sensor. General Signal Failures. Signal signal invalid

Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
1 modelV60 (2011–)
Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
The signals from the three temperature sensors inside the IEM differ too much from one another. The sensors measure the temperature of the high voltage transistors inside the control unit. The code is set with the ignition on once the control module's test has started. Electric propulsion is then not possible.
Possible causes
- Damaged temperature sensor in the IEM
- Internal fault in the voltage converter (ISC)
What you can do
- 1If you have a diagnostic tool: compare the three temperature readings from the IEM in live data and see whether any of them clearly deviates from the others
- 2Have a workshop check the electric rear axle drive control module. The sensors sit inside it and it contains high voltage equipment. High voltage systems may only be handled by qualified personnel
- 3Do not carry out any work on the control module yourself
- 4After the repair, read out the fault codes and check that the code is not stored again
Symptoms you may notice4
- Warning window with a warning symbol and text message
- Drive mode PURE disengages automatically or is unavailable
- Drive mode AWD disengages automatically or is unavailable
- Drive mode HYBRID: the combustion engine is running all the time or too often
What the fault can affect2
- Electric propulsion is not possible
- Brake energy regeneration from the electric rear axle is not possible
