Applies to the following models:
1 modelV60 (2011–)
Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
The code concerns over-temperature in the electric rear axle drive control module (IEM). The temperature sensors inside the control unit measure the high voltage transistors, and the code is set when one or more of the sensors shows a high temperature with the ignition on. It may be that the control module becomes too hot inside, or an internal fault in the voltage converter (ISC). Electric propulsion is then not possible.
Possible causes
- Too high an internal temperature in the control module
- Internal fault in the voltage converter (ISC)
What you can do
- 1If you have a diagnostic tool: read the IEM temperature values in live data and see whether any sensor shows clearly more heat than the others
- 2Have a workshop check the electric rear axle drive control module and the voltage converter (ISC). High voltage systems may only be handled by qualified personnel
- 3Do not carry out any work on the control module yourself
- 4After the repair, check that the code is not stored again
Symptoms you may notice4
- Warning symbol and text message appear
- Drive mode PURE disengages automatically or is unavailable
- Drive mode AWD disengages automatically or is unavailable
- Drive mode HYBRID: the combustion engine runs all the time or too often
What the fault can affect2
- Electric propulsion is not possible
- Brake energy regeneration from the electric rear axle is not possible
