What does this fault code mean?
The electric rear axle drive control module (IEM) calibrates its current sensors automatically. The code is set when the automatic calibration fails in drive mode, that is, once the car has started. The causes are that the control module has been restarted while the electric rear axle (ERAD) was not stationary, a software fault in the IEM, or an internal fault in the voltage converter (ISC). Electric propulsion is then not possible.
Possible causes
- The control module was restarted while the electric rear axle (ERAD) was not stationary
- Software fault in the electric rear axle drive control module (IEM)
- Internal fault in the voltage converter (ISC)
What you can do
- 1Have a workshop calibrate the current sensors in the electric rear axle drive control module. High voltage systems may only be handled by qualified personnel
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool: read the fault codes after a drive in drive mode and see whether the code is set again
- 3Have a workshop download new software to the IEM if the fault remains
- 4After the repair, check that the code is not stored again
Symptoms you may notice4
- Text window and warning symbol with a text message
- Drive mode PURE disengages automatically or is unavailable
- Drive mode AWD disengages automatically or is unavailable
- Drive mode HYBRID: the combustion engine runs all the time or too often
What the fault can affect2
- Electric propulsion is not possible
- Brake energy regeneration from the electric rear axle is not possible
