IEM-P181F79 - Clutch Control System Performance. Mechanical Failures. Mechanical linkage failure
System
Unknown System / Manufacturer Specific
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
1 modelV60 (2011–)
Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
Although the code is named mechanical linkage failure, it applies when the electric rear axle takes too long to speed up before engagement. The fault is set in gear D or R. The causes are that the DCC clutch control is stuck closed, or that the rear axle (ERAD) is damaged or has an internal fault. Electric propulsion is then not possible.
Possible causes
- The DCC clutch control is stuck in the closed position
- The electric rear axle (ERAD) is damaged
- Internal fault in the electric rear axle (ERAD)
What you can do
- 1Have a workshop check the clutch control for the electric rear axle (DCC) and the rear axle. High voltage systems may only be handled by qualified personnel
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool: read the IEM fault codes after a drive in gear D or R and see whether the code is set again
- 3Do not carry out any work on the electric rear axle yourself
- 4After the repair, check that the code is not stored again and that electric propulsion works
Symptoms you may notice4
- Text window and warning symbol with a text message
- Drive mode PURE disengages automatically or is unavailable
- Drive mode AWD disengages automatically or is unavailable
- Drive mode HYBRID: the combustion engine runs all the time or too often
What the fault can affect2
- Electric propulsion is not possible
- Brake energy regeneration from the electric rear axle is not possible
