What does this fault code mean?
The control modules on the CAN network communicate with a standardized method. Here the signal configuration IDs for the HS-CAN (the high speed CAN network) do not match, or something is disturbing the network. The causes are a control module that is not intended for this car, for example a used one with different software or hardware, or a software fault in the IEM or in the airbag control module (SRS). The control module stays switched off until the power supply has been broken and reconnected.
Possible causes
- Incorrect configuration ID, for example a used control module that is not intended for this car
- Software fault in the electric rear axle drive control module (IEM)
- Software fault in the airbag control module (SRS)
What you can do
- 1Has a control module recently been replaced with a used one? Have a workshop check that it is intended for this car and that the right software is loaded
- 2Have a workshop download the latest software to the IEM and check the SRS control module. High voltage systems may only be handled by qualified personnel
- 3Do not work on the airbag system yourself. Have a workshop check it if the fault remains
- 4After the repair, read out the fault codes with the ignition on and check that the code is not stored again
Symptoms you may notice4
- Text window and warning symbol with a text message
- Drive mode PURE disengages automatically or is unavailable
- Drive mode AWD disengages automatically or is unavailable
- Drive mode HYBRID: the combustion engine runs all the time or too often
What the fault can affect3
- The control module shuts itself off (bus-off)
- Electric propulsion is not possible
- Brake energy regeneration from the electric rear axle is not possible
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
