What does this fault code mean?
The electric rear axle drive control module (IEM) sends or receives no messages on the HS-CAN, or sends incorrect messages. The causes are a break in one or both CAN wires in one section of the network, a software fault in the IEM, or an internal fault in the voltage converter (ISC). The control module stays switched off until the power supply has been broken and reconnected.
Possible causes
- Break in one or both CAN wires in one section of the network
- Software fault in the electric rear axle drive control module (IEM)
- Internal fault in the voltage converter (ISC)
What you can do
- 1Have a workshop check the CAN cables in the part of the network where the break is suspected. High voltage systems may only be handled by qualified personnel
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool: read the fault codes in the other control modules on the CAN network, since they can show which part of the network is affected
- 3Do not carry out any work on the high voltage system yourself
- 4After the repair, switch the ignition off and on and check that the code is not stored again
Symptoms you may notice4
- Text window and warning symbol with a text message
- Drive mode PURE disengages automatically or is unavailable
- Drive mode AWD disengages automatically or is unavailable
- Drive mode HYBRID: the combustion engine runs all the time or too often
What the fault can affect3
- The control module shuts itself off (bus-off)
- Electric propulsion is not possible
- Brake energy regeneration from the electric rear axle is not possible
