Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
The electric rear axle drive module (IEM) communicates with other control modules over the CAN bus. This code means the configuration for the sensor CAN does not match, for example because the module is not intended for this particular car. The fault is only checked once the test has started at ignition on, and the code is stored when the conditions are met.
Possible causes
- Faulty configuration
- Incorrect configuration ID, for example a used control module with different software or hardware from the one the car needs
- Software error in the electric rear axle drive module (IEM)
- Software error in the restraint system control module (SRS)
What you can do
- 1Read out and note the code, clear it, then start the car and see whether it returns
- 2If the control module has been replaced, check that it is intended for this particular car, since a used module with other software or hardware causes this code
- 3Have a workshop with diagnostic equipment program the control module and install the latest software, as the module has registered an internal fault that may be due to software
- 4If the code returns after programming, have a workshop check the control module and the communication on the sensor CAN
- 5Do not work on the electric rear axle or its high voltage system yourself; have a workshop carry out those checks
Symptoms you may notice4
- Warning symbol and text message in the display
- PURE drive mode disengages by itself or is not available
- AWD drive mode disengages by itself or is not available
- HYBRID drive mode runs with the combustion engine active all the time or too often
What the fault can affect3
- The control module switches itself off on the sensor CAN (bus-off) and stays off until the power supply has been disconnected
- Electric propulsion is not possible
- Brake energy recovery from the electric rear axle ERAD is not possible
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
