IGM-B200764 - Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor Temperature Sensor. Algorithm Based Failures. Signal plausibility failure

    System

    Unknown System / Manufacturer Specific

Volvo models this fault code applies to

    Applies to the following models:

    1 model

    V60 (2011–)

Show models by year and engine (2)
    • Volvo V60 (2011–)2013–2014Engine D82PHEV only
    • Volvo V60 (2011–)2015Engine D82PHEV, D87PHEV only

What does this fault code mean?

The high voltage generator control module (IGM) measures the temperature of its high voltage transistors with three temperature sensors built into the control module. The code is stored when the signals from these sensors fall outside the permitted range given how the starter generator ISG has been used. The fault is only checked once the test has started at ignition on.

    Possible causes

    • Air or leakage in the cooling system, or a low coolant level
    • Damaged cable or connection to the coolant pump
    • Damaged coolant pump
    • Software fault in the IGM
    • Software fault in the engine control module (ECM)
    • Internal fault inside the ISC voltage converter

    What you can do

    1. 1Read out, clear the code, start the car and road test to see whether it returns
    2. 2Check the coolant level and look for leaks in the cooling system
    3. 3Have a workshop look over the cable and connector to the coolant pump for damage and make sure they are fully seated
    4. 4Have a workshop check the coolant pump and whether new software is available for the IGM and the engine control module
    5. 5The high voltage system may only be handled by a workshop; do not work on it yourself

    Symptoms you may notice5

    • Warning symbol and text message in the display
    • Warning about power supply problems from the alternator and charge regulator
    • Charging of the high voltage battery while driving is absent, reduced or not working correctly
    • High voltage battery is discharged or charges poorly
    • HYBRID drive mode: the combustion engine is active all the time or too often

    What the fault can affect1

    • The high voltage battery cannot be charged by the combustion engine

General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
