Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
The high-voltage generator module (IGM) in the plug-in hybrid has detected too low a voltage in its power stage while the combustion engine was off. The generator charges the high-voltage battery from the combustion engine, and with too low a voltage in the high-voltage system it cannot do so.
Possible causes
- The high-voltage battery is discharged
- Poor contact or corrosion in the high-voltage connections to the voltage converter or the electric A/C compressor
- Open circuit or short to ground in the high-voltage wiring
What you can do
- 1Charge the car with the charging cable if the high-voltage battery may be flat, and see whether the fault clears
- 2Check that the 12-volt battery is in good condition
- 3Never work on the high-voltage system yourself – it must only be handled by qualified personnel
- 4If the fault remains, have a workshop qualified for high-voltage work check the connections and wiring
Symptoms you may notice3
- Message in the display
- The high-voltage battery does not charge or charges poorly
- Modes such as Save and AWD become unavailable and the combustion engine runs often
What the fault can affect1
- The high-voltage battery cannot be charged by the combustion engine
