Applies to the following models:
1 modelV60 (2011–)
Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
The high voltage generator control module (IGM) supervises the voltage and current feed to the starter generator ISG. Although the code is named incorrect frequency, it applies when the current to the ISG does not match the measured voltage. The fault is only checked once the combustion engine is running.
Possible causes
- Loose contacts, contact resistance or oxidation at the connections between the ISG and the ISC
- A short circuit from the high voltage cable to ground
- Break in the high voltage cable
- Wiring between the ISG and the ISC is damaged
- Internal fault inside the ISG starter generator
- Internal fault inside the ISC voltage converter
What you can do
- 1Read out, clear the code and run the engine to see whether it returns
- 2Have a workshop check the high voltage cable and the wiring between the ISG and the ISC
- 3Have a workshop check the ISG and the ISC, as they may have internal faults
- 4The high voltage system may only be handled by a workshop; do not work on it yourself
Symptoms you may notice5
- Warning symbol and text message in the display
- Warning about power supply problems from the alternator and charge regulator
- Charging of the high voltage battery while driving is absent, reduced or not working correctly
- High voltage battery is discharged or charges poorly
- HYBRID drive mode: the combustion engine is active all the time or too often
What the fault can affect2
- The starter generator ISG has reduced function
- Charging of the high voltage battery is reduced
