What does this fault code mean?
The high voltage generator control module (IGM) communicates with the other control modules over the CAN bus. The code means that the signal configuration for the sensor CAN does not match, for example because the module is not intended for this particular car. The fault is only checked once the test has started at ignition on.
Possible causes
- Faulty configuration
- Incorrect configuration ID; the module is meant for another car, for example a used module with different software or hardware
- Software fault in the IGM
- Software fault in the restraint system control module (SRS)
What you can do
- 1Read out and note the code, clear it and start the car to see whether it comes back
- 2If the control module has been replaced, check that it is intended for this particular car
- 3Have a workshop program the control module and download the latest software, since the module reports an internal fault that may have a software cause
- 4The high voltage system may only be handled by a workshop; do not work on it yourself
Symptoms you may notice5
- Warning symbol and text message in the display
- Warning about power supply problems from the alternator and charge regulator
- Charging of the high voltage battery while driving is absent, reduced or not working correctly
- High voltage battery is discharged or charges poorly
- HYBRID drive mode: the combustion engine is active all the time or too often
What the fault can affect3
- The control module switches itself off on the sensor CAN (bus-off) and stays off until the power supply has been disconnected
- The high voltage battery cannot be charged by the combustion engine
- When the power supply is reconnected, the control module tries to communicate again
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
