Applies to the following models:
1 modelV60 (2011–)
Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
The high voltage generator control module (IGM) lacks at least one signal from the battery energy control module (BECM), and the fault concerns communication on sensor CAN. Although the code is named invalid data, the signals are therefore missing. The fault is only checked once the test has started at ignition on.
Possible causes
- Oxidation, contact resistance or loose contacts at the connections to sensor CAN
- Damaged cables on sensor CAN
- Software fault in the IGM
- Software fault in the engine control module (ECM)
- Internal fault inside the ISC voltage converter
What you can do
- 1Read out, clear the code and road test to see whether it returns
- 2Have a workshop check that the connectors to sensor CAN are fully engaged and free from corrosion
- 3Any codes stored in the control module that sends the signal should be dealt with first; have a workshop help with this
- 4If a control module has recently been replaced, check that it has the correct software; a replacement without new software can cause this code
- 5The high voltage system may only be handled by a workshop; do not work on it yourself
Symptoms you may notice5
- Warning symbol and text message in the display
- Warning about power supply problems from the alternator and charge regulator
- Charging of the high voltage battery while driving is absent, reduced or not working correctly
- High voltage battery is discharged or charges poorly
- HYBRID drive mode: the combustion engine is active all the time or too often
What the fault can affect1
- The high voltage battery cannot be charged by the combustion engine
