Button status on the wheel is checked by the infotainment head unit (IHU) over LIN. The code is stored when the message received is not the one expected.
Possible causes
- A fault in the transmitting control module, the one that sends the steering wheel button signals
What you can do
- 1Clear the code and check whether it returns
- 2Check that the fuses are intact
- 3Switch the ignition on, or start the engine if needed, so that all units on the bus get power and communication starts, then read the code again
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: check in live data whether the steering wheel button value updates when you press one button at a time
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop trace the LIN bus further
Symptoms you may notice1
- Audio functions from the steering wheel do not work
