What does this fault code mean?
The infotainment head unit (IHU) gets no signal from the steering wheel buttons over LIN. The code is stored when that signal is missing.
Possible causes
- A fault in the transmitting control module, the one that sends the steering wheel button signals
What you can do
- 1Read and clear the code, then check whether it returns
- 2Make sure the ignition is on, or start the engine if needed, so that the steering wheel button signal can get through
- 3Check that the relevant fuses are intact
- 4If there is another code from the same control module that concerns the LIN bus, start with that one
- 5If you have a diagnostic tool: read the steering wheel button status in live data and check whether it updates when you press the buttons
- 6If the fault remains, have a workshop trace the LIN bus further
Symptoms you may notice1
- The steering wheel buttons for audio do not respond
