What does this fault code mean?
Communication from the steering wheel buttons to the infotainment head unit (IHU) over LIN has stopped. The IHU checks the button status, and the code is stored when communication is lost completely.
Possible causes
- Short-circuit to ground or supply voltage on the LIN bus
- Break in the communication wire
- Poor contact or oxidation in terminals or connections
- Open circuit in one connection
- Short-circuit in one connection
What you can do
- 1Clear the code and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the fuses are intact
- 3Check that the connectors at the steering wheel button connections are firmly seated and free from oxidation
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the communication wire has no open circuit and no short-circuit to ground
- 5If you have a diagnostic tool: check in live data whether the head unit reports contact with the steering wheel buttons when the ignition is on
- 6If the fault remains, have a workshop trace the LIN bus and the connectors further
Symptoms you may notice1
- The steering wheel buttons for audio do not work
