What does this fault code mean?
This code applies to cars for the Japanese market where the infotainment head unit (IHU) is set up for DSRC. The head unit communicates with the ETC device over USB. The code is stored on communication faults with the ETC device, on faults with the ETC card (for example if it is inserted wrongly or cannot be read), on faults in the ETC service configuration, and when communication with a toll station is interrupted during an ongoing session.
Possible causes
- The ETC device is damaged
- The antenna for the ETC device is damaged
- The cable harness is damaged
- The ETC card was removed before authentication was finished, after initialisation had been carried out
- A credit card has been used to switch off the ETC service
- The ETC service is misconfigured, or the toll station exchange failed: no card at passage, unexpected data, or a faulty station transmitter
What you can do
- 1Clear the code and check whether it returns after a drive
- 2Check that the ETC card is fully and correctly inserted in the device
- 3Check that the fuses are intact
- 4Check that the cable harness and the antenna for the ETC device have no chafing or damage
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the ETC device and its configuration
Symptoms you may notice2
- Navigation does not work
- The Electronic Toll Collecting System (ETC) does not work
