What does this fault code mean?
The steering angle sensor module (SAS) continuously sends information to the head unit (IHU) over CAN. The code is stored when that communication is lost, and the check runs while the head unit is activated.
Possible causes
- A break in the communication line
- A ground short in the communication line
- A supply voltage short in the communication line
- Contact resistance, oxidation or a break in the connectors
What you can do
- 1Clear the code and check whether it returns
- 2Check that the fuses are intact
- 3Check that the connectors in the communication line are firmly seated and free from oxidation
- 4Check the communication line for breaks, chafing and damage
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop trace the communication line and the steering angle sensor further
- 6The steering angle sensor belongs to the steering system, which is safety-critical; do not work on the steering or the steering angle sensor yourself, have a workshop do it
