Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
9 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The code is stored when communication with the climate control module (CCM) over CAN is disturbed or missing. The fault points to the CAN network rather than to one individual module.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance in the connections
- A break or short-circuit in the CAN wires
- A shared fault on the CAN network, if several fault codes in the central electronic module (CEM) point to communication faults with other modules on MS-CAN
What you can do
- 1Clear the code and check whether it returns
- 2Check that the fuses are intact
- 3Check that the connectors in the CAN network are firmly seated and free from oxidation
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: check whether the climate control module (CCM) and other modules also report communication faults
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop trace the CAN wires. The central electronic module (CEM) should not be replaced unless it is shown to be damaged
Symptoms you may notice2
- Warning lamps or signals behave abnormally
- Other problems with warning signals
