What does this fault code mean?
The keyless vehicle module (KVM) checks communication with the remote keyless entry receiver, which picks up signals from the key fob and handles the keyless functions. The code is stored when the KVM finds the signal faulty during key activity, such as locking, unlocking, passive start and activating the key.
Possible causes
- Signal wire shorted to supply voltage
- Signal wire shorted to ground
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it, then try locking and unlocking the car with the remote control
- 2Check the power supply and ground wiring between the receiver and the central electronic module (CEM) for chafing or pinching, and for a short to supply voltage or to ground
- 3Make sure the connectors at the receiver and at the CEM are firmly seated and free from corrosion
- 4Switch the ignition on and test again. If the signal wire to the receiver is open or shorted, repair that wire
- 5Have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the communication and replace the receiver if no other fault is found
