What does this fault code mean?
The KVM (keyless vehicle module) monitors the antennas on the left side of the car once it reaches a certain speed. The code is stored when a reading from the outer left-hand antennas is wrong, or when the circuit gives no reading at all. The keyless functions then work poorly or stop.
Possible causes
- At least one of the outer left-hand antennas is damaged or not connected
- The circuit to the outer left-hand antenna is not connected
- One of the outer left-hand antennas is faulty
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 2Disconnect the battery negative lead and check that the wiring to the outer left-hand antennas is complete and undamaged
- 3Use a multimeter to check that there is no open circuit in the wires to the antennas
- 4Make sure the connections at the antennas and at the KVM are firmly seated and free from oxidation
- 5Have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the antennas and the KVM and replace the faulty part
Symptoms you may notice1
- Keyless functions do not work at all or work poorly
