What does this fault code mean?
The keyless vehicle module (KVM) monitors the connection to the outer antennas on the right side of the car when the car reaches a certain speed. The code is stored when the signal from any of them is too low. The keyless functions then work poorly or not at all.
Possible causes
- Part of the circuit for the outer right-hand antennas is shorted to ground
- One of the outer right-hand antennas is faulty
- The wire to the outer right-hand antenna is shorted to ground
- The outer right-hand antenna is damaged
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and road test the car
- 2Disconnect the battery negative lead and inspect the wiring to the antennas in the right door handle for damage and chafing
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the wiring to the outer right-hand antennas is not in contact with ground (the body)
- 4Make sure the connectors at the antennas and at the KVM are firmly seated and free from corrosion
- 5Have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the antennas and the KVM; the module may need replacing if no other fault is found
Symptoms you may notice1
- Keyless functions do not work at all or work poorly
