What does this fault code mean?
The keyless vehicle module (KVM) monitors the connection to the outer antenna at the rear of the car when the car reaches a certain speed. The code is stored when the signal from the rear antenna circuit is too low. The keyless functions then work poorly or not at all.
Possible causes
- Signal wire to the outer rear antenna shorted to ground
- The outer rear antenna is faulty
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and road test the car
- 2Disconnect the battery negative lead before working on the wiring, then inspect the wiring to the rear antenna for damage and chafing
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the wire to the rear antenna is not in contact with ground (the body)
- 4Make sure the connector at the antenna and at the KVM is firmly seated and clean
- 5Have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the antenna and replace it if the wiring is sound
Symptoms you may notice1
- Keyless functions do not work at all or work poorly
