Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsC30 (2007–2013), C30 Electric (2011–2013), C70 (2006–2013), S40 (2004–2013), V50 (2004–2013)
What does this fault code mean?
On the left front door, the keyless vehicle module (KVM) tracks the unlock switch, which indicates the handle is out. The timer starts when the switch is activated and resets when the handle is released. If the switch has been activated for too long, the code is stored, and unlocking of the door may then be delayed.
Possible causes
- The unlock switch on the left front is faulty
- The left front handle has been held pulled out for an unusually long time
- The signal wire has a short to ground
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and pull the left front handle to see whether the door unlocks straight away
- 2Check that the handle returns to its rest position and is not damaged, and that dirt or ice is not preventing it
- 3With the ignition off, use a multimeter to check that the wire between the KVM and the handle switch is not connected to ground (the body)
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: pull the handle out and check that the switch value in live data shows activated while the handle is out
- 5Have a workshop replace the door handle if no other fault is found
Symptoms you may notice1
- The door unlocks with a delay
