What does this fault code mean?
The switch in the quick lock on the right rear door is monitored by the keyless vehicle module (KVM). The timer starts when the switch is activated and resets when the handle is released. If the switch has been activated for too long, the code is stored, and the rear door may then lock or unlock with a delay.
Possible causes
- The quick lock switch on the right rear is faulty
- The right rear handle has been held pulled out for an unusually long time
- The signal wire has a short to ground
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and pull the right rear handle to see whether the door unlocks straight away
- 2Check that the handle returns to its rest position and is not damaged, and that dirt or ice is not preventing it
- 3With the ignition off, use a multimeter to check that the wire between the KVM and the quick lock switch is not connected to ground (the body)
- 4Check that the ground wire to the quick lock is intact and that the ground point is firmly fixed and free from oxidation
- 5If you have a diagnostic tool: pull the handle out and check that the switch value in live data shows activated while the handle is out
- 6Have a workshop replace the lock mechanism if no other fault is found
Symptoms you may notice1
- The door unlocks with a delay
