KVM-0100
VOLVO
KVM-0100 - Interior antennas. Signal too low
System
Keyless Vehicle Module (KVM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsC30 (2007–2013), C30 Electric (2011–2013), C70 (2006–2013), S40 (2004–2013), V50 (2004–2013)
What does this fault code mean?
The keyless vehicle module (KVM) monitors the antennas once the car is moving fast enough. The code is stored when the signal from one of the inner antennas becomes too weak. The inner antennas share one driver circuit in the module, and the keyless functions then work poorly or not at all.
Possible causes
- A wire to one of the inner antennas has a short to ground
- One of the inner antennas is faulty
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and test the keyless functions with the ignition on
- 2With the ignition off, inspect the wiring to the inner antennas for damage and chafing, and make sure the connectors are secure
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the wires to the antennas are not in contact with ground (the body)
- 4With the car stationary, gently move the connectors and the wiring harness and see whether the fault follows
- 5Have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the antennas and replace the faulty one if the wiring is sound
Symptoms you may notice1
- Keyless functions work poorly or not at all
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
