VOLVO
KVM-0101 - Interior antennas. Signal too low
System
Keyless Vehicle Module (KVM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsC30 (2007–2013), C30 Electric (2011–2013), C70 (2006–2013), S40 (2004–2013), V50 (2004–2013)
What does this fault code mean?
Once the car is up to speed, the keyless vehicle module (KVM) checks the link to the antennas. The code is stored if any of the inner antennas gives too weak a signal, and the keyless functions are then reduced or lost completely.
Possible causes
- A wire to one of the inner antennas is shorted to ground
- One of the antennas is faulty
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 2With the ignition off, check the wiring to the inner antennas for damage and make sure the connectors are complete and firm
- 3Use a multimeter to check whether any wire to the inner antennas is in contact with ground (the body)
- 4Gently move the connectors and the wiring harness while the car is stationary and note whether the fault follows
- 5Have a workshop with diagnostic equipment replace the faulty antenna if the wiring is in order
Symptoms you may notice1
- Keyless function reduced, or absent altogether
