Applies to the following models:
5 modelsC30 (2007–2013), C30 Electric (2011–2013), C70 (2006–2013), S40 (2004–2013), V50 (2004–2013)
What does this fault code mean?
The keyless vehicle module (KVM) measures the antenna signal while the car is being driven. If one or more inner antennas give too weak a signal, the code is stored, and the keyless functions can become poor or disappear entirely.
Possible causes
- One of the inner antennas has a wire in contact with ground
- One of the antennas is broken
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and check whether it returns
- 2Disconnect the battery negative lead, then inspect the wiring to the inner antennas for damage, chafing and pinching
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the wires to the inner antennas are not connected to ground (the body)
- 4Make sure the connectors are firmly seated and free from corrosion
- 5Have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the antennas and replace the broken antenna if the wiring is sound
Symptoms you may notice1
- Keyless function is reduced or absent
