Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsC30 (2007–2013), C30 Electric (2011–2013), C70 (2006–2013), S40 (2004–2013), V50 (2004–2013)
What does this fault code mean?
During a passive start, when the car is started without inserting the key, the keyless vehicle module (KVM) compares the key code the receiver has picked up from the remote control with the codes stored in the module. If the code does not match, the code is stored, and the car cannot then be started keylessly.
Possible causes
- Internal fault in the remote transmitter
- Low voltage in the transmitter's internal battery
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and try a keyless start
- 2Try the keyless start with each remote control in turn, and keep only one transmitter in the car while you test
- 3Fit a new battery in the transmitter and try again
- 4If it still does not work, try a new transmitter
- 5Have a workshop check that the key codes are correctly programmed if the fault remains
Symptoms you may notice1
- Keyless start does not take place
